Domenico Gentile

Domenico "Dominick" Gentile was born 9 May 1837, in Forli del Sannio, Isernia, Italy.  He married Pasqua Milano in 1866 in Forli del Sannio.  Pasqua was the daughter of Domenico Antonio Bernardino Milano and Giacomina Angela Theresa Onorato.  She was born 14 June, 1838 in Forli del Sannio.  Domenico and Pasqua had the following children together:

1. Orlandina Gentile, (click 'Orlandina Gentile' to view descendants) born 7 March 1867, in Forli del Sannio.  She married Vincenzo DiBenedetto in about 1887.  Vincenzo was born in Roccasiccura, Italy.  Orlandina died about 1890 in Forli del Sannio.  

2. Barbara Gentile (click 'Barbara Gentile' to view her descendants) born 30 Jun 1868, in Forli del Sannio.  She married Giovanni DeOria or DeGoria on 3 September, 1893, in Forli del Sannio.  Giovanni DeOria/DeGoria was born in Roccasiccura, Isernia, Italy.

3. Nicolantonio "Nicola" Gentile (click 'Nicolantonio Gentile to view descendants) born 5 April 1871 in Forli del Sannio, Italy.  He married Angelantonia Pietraroia 27 August, 1894, in the Church of the Most Precious Blood, Manhattan, New York.   Angelantonia "Angelina" Pietraroia was the daughter of Antonio Pietraroia and Cristinangela GrifoneAngelina was born 25 April 1879 in Guardiaregia, Campobasso, Italy.

4. Vincenza Gentile (click 'Vincenza Gentile' to view descendants) born 1879 Forli del Sannio. She married Giuseppe Equisi on 12 September, 1895 in Forli del Sannio.  Vincenza and Giuseppe Equisi lived in Montereale and Roio Piano, Italy, where their children were born.  Vincenza died 13 May 1952 in Montereale, Isernia, Italy.


Dominick Gentile traveled to Columbus, Ohio in 1880, presumably to visit relatives, but then returned to Italy.  Pasqua Milano passed away, presumably in Italy before 1895.   Dominick married 2nd, to Maria Theresa Appellonio in Forli del Sannio, Italy.  They had one child together:

In 1905, Dominick Gentile, at the age of 68, Maria Theresa Gentile, and Raffaello "Ralph" DiBennedetto, Dominick's grandson, traveled to New York city, to live in America permanently.  Ralph was the son of Orlandina Gentile DeBenedetto, who had died about 1890 in Italy.

When he arrived in 1905, Dominick first went to New York City, where his son Nicola and family were living.  By 1910, he had settled in Palisades Park, New Jersey.  He worked as a scissor grinder  to save 1000 in dimes to buy a farm in Bergen County, New Jersey.  He later lived in Orange, Essex County, New Jersey, where he died at the home of ____________, on ________ 1926.
